There are a number of different raw materials that are suitable for the deep draw process. Today we will examine deep drawing with Stainless Steel.

When an item or component needs to have wear resistance and will be exposed to weather, corrosives or intense heat, stainless steel is a superior choice of material to use. Accurate Forming works with stainless steel in the following grades; S304, S305, S310, S316. Accurate Forming’s thickness range for deep drawn stainless steel is .005” to .032” with a tolerance of +-.001”.

Stainless steel is a much harder material than carbon steel, brass or aluminum therefore creating the need for a larger press size (tonnage). The tooling used for running stainless steel material will need to be maintained at more frequent intervals as well because of the wearing of the tools from the hardness of the material.

Our components that are manufactured from stainless steel are supplied to many industrial OEM’s including premium writing instrument, medical, automotive, appliance, law enforcement / ordnance, laser, sensor, probe, appliance, aerospace, flashlights and industrial / commercial marker customers.

If required for cosmetic reasons stainless steel can be polished for a very pleasing aesthetic look. This is also another valuable asset of utilizing stainless steel if the need for a decorative part is desired.

Stainless Steel when used for the right applications is a strong and valuable raw material. Please contact Accurate Forming at (973)827-7155 or at [email protected] or visit our website at www.accurateforming.com to learn more about what Accurate Forming can do for you.
